The first race of the season comes to an end, and it was worth every penny. Charles Leclerc converted his pole in qualifying to a race victory as Ferrari finishes 1-2. However, Kevin Magnussen in a Haas defied all odds as the Danish driver finished P5 behind both Ferrari and Mercedes. It’s an excellent result for the American-based team and they will go into next week satisfied.

Haas’ garage went berserk and so did Kevin Magnussen. We can stand clear on what this means to Haas as Kevin Magnussen finished best of the rest. They will look to carry this momentum into the coming race week in Saudi Arabia, but right now they will celebrate the impressive result.
Kevin Magnussen’s Radio Message
Kevin Magnussen had a clear plan and executed the race strategy brilliantly. The Haas driver started the race on the soft tires as he jumped ahead to P5 at the start of the race. And surprisingly, he once again changed to soft tires when he pitted in the 15th lap. Pierre Gasly was a constant threat to the Dane, but his three-stop strategy paid dividends as he finished P5 in the end.

Haas came into the first race week with plenty of problems. Earlier, they ended their contract with Nikita Mazepin and their main sponsor, Uralkali, amid tension between Russia and Ukraine. And they announced Kevin Magnussen as Mazepin’s replacement only days before the Bahrain testing.
Adding to the miseries, their cargo was left stranded at the airport a day before the Bahrain testing. So, getting a P5 finish in the first race would have increased their confidence going into the rest of the season. Kevin Magnussen was clearly ecstatic on the radio after the race. He said, “This is a win for us. This is a win. “

The Ferrari-powered engines had an excellent start to the season as both the Alfa Romeo finished in the points as well. It only bodes well for Haas in the future, as they will look to get more points on board after a miserable 2021. However, they will be enraptured with today’s results. Can Haas continue their fine start and score points on a regular basis? It remains to be seen.
