“Last Year Was the Trailer” – Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Warns Rivals About Toronto Blue Jays Ahead Of MLB 2022 Season

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is all set to be the face of the franchise. Starring on a superstar lineup with the Toronto Blue Jays, the young hitter is bound to be turning heads across the league with his displays last season. But according to his latest media interaction, Vladdy G’s best is very much yet to come. The young hitter took the league by storm last year and if he is to be believed, the Blue Jays are only set to improve from here on in.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr., the Blue Jays’ 1st baseman, saw a transcendent season last year as he truly came of age with a stunning display in the American League. With the hitter putting up impressive offensive numbers, he surely had the AL MVP trophy in the bag if not for Shohei Ohtani and his 2-way exploits in 2021. But with the Blue Jays taking shape come 2022, Guerrero Jr. could be set not just for an individual win but also for an impressive team title.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. teases season in the offing for the Toronto Blue Jays

Speaking to SportsNet, Guerrero Jr. almost had a twinkle in his eye as he made a prediction about the upcoming season for the Toronto Blue Jays. Said Vladdy G, “What we did last year was the trailer, now you guys are going to see the movie.” And while meant for the cameras, he could well and truly mean for the statement to be true.

Only finishing a game behind the nearest post-season qualifiers, the Blue Jays look like an outfit for the future. While the infield is considerably tightened by the acquisition of Matt Chapman in the off-season; the pitcher rotation too is considerably strengthened from the past season.

2021 can truly be considered the season where Guerrero came of age. Slashing  .311/.401/.601 season with 48 homers, 111 RBIs Guerrero was the fulcrum of the Blue Jays’ batting. And with his123 runs scored, his offensive output was certainly one to be noted around the league. However, like several of the greats, he only seems to be getting started.

“Definitely I am going to try to do my best to help the team make the playoffs,” added Guerrero Jr. “I really believe that’s the goal not just for me, for everyone here.”
