In a recent session of the Ask Jr. segment of his show, NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr spoke about the differences between NBC and FOX, and what he would take away from his stint in the FOX booth.
The former Hendrick driver, who is under contract with NBC Sports, was hired by FOX Sports as a guest analyst for the Talladega Cup Series race.
“It’s going to be a lot of fun to see how they do it,” Earnhardt Jr. said. “You know they have a different production truck, different personnel, and how they present the race, and what a broadcaster’s role in the booth is. It’s gonna be different.”
“I’m also just going to be kind of paying attention of what I can learn that they do really well that I think we could incorporate into what we’re doing.”
Dale Jr. also added that he’s going to have a good time in the FOX booth. “I like Mike Joy, I like Clint (Bowyer). I’ve been friends with Clint a long time and I’ve gotten a chance to actually work with Mike one time at the Clash in Daytona,” he said.

As soon as Dale Earnhardt Jr was announced as a guest analyst for FOX, NASCAR fans and the entire community began wondering just how NBC let him go on with the gig.
But in reality, the facts were stranger than the expectations as well as the collective assumptions.
Dale Earnhardt Jr revealed, “I get this question a lot, ‘How did NBC let this happen, how are they letting you do this? NBC’s the one that called me. My boss called me and said, ‘Hey man, would you want to do this?'”
“So they’re all for it.”
