American hurdler Sydney McLaughlin was one to watch at the Tokyo Summer Olympics 2020. She not only won the Gold medal but also made a new world record of 51.46 seconds. But the Olympics were not the beginning of her impressive performance. At the trials themselves, Sydney McLaughlin broke the 52-second mark and made history.
Her performance was much awaited at the Penn Relays 2022. As one of the top hurdle runners and the Olympic champion, she was one to watch at the event. However, she took part in the 100m hurdles elite at the Penn Relays and not the 400m.

She did not just win the race but also set a new World Record. Notably, 5 years before, she smashed the 4*400 at the Penn Relays 2017 and was the highlight of the season. Fast forward to 2022, McLaughlin has done it again. This was her first race after Tokyo Olympics 202o. She had ended the 2021 season right after the Olympics. But now she is back for good.
Five years after setting a Penn Relays record with a 4x400m split, Sydney McLaughlin sets another record – this time in the 110m hurdles. 12.75 seconds, and a big cheer from the crowd at Franklin Field.#2022PennRelays

Even though the 100m hurdles is not her usual event, she showed extreme skill in this new event. She was way ahead of her competitors and won the event with a fair margin.
She was followed by Canada’s Mariam Abdul Rashid, who finished the race with a timing of 13.17 seconds. USA’s Evonne Britton came in 3rd place with a timing of 13.23 seconds.
