Antonio Brown has been one of the most talented players in the NFL over the past decade. Even though his behavior both on and off the field has brought trouble for him, nobody can deny the talent he possesses on the field.
He recently (2021) won a Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and his dream was fulfilled. However, his time at the Buccaneers didn’t end the way he would have wanted. However, AB had gained popularity in the NFL during his time with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Antonio started off his career at the Steelers. He transformed himself into one of the best receivers in the league during his time in Pittsburgh. He recently claimed that he would love to retire as a player for the Steelers.
In his support came his former teammate Vince Williams. Vince was a linebacker for the Steelers and shared the dressing room with AB from 2013-to 2018. In a recent tweet, he tweeted out “AB is the best Steelers WR ever, so yeah he should retire a Steeler.”
Vince firmly believes that Antonio Brown is the best WR in the franchise’s history. This is a bold claim considering many great players have donned the Black and Gold jersey in Pittsburgh. In retrospect to Vince’s comments, he might be right.
Primarily because AB was arguably the best receiver in the league for a prolonged period. This came when the game was quite advanced, and you had players getting familiar with the technology. Moreover, it made the receiver’s job much more challenging than players of the past.
How good was Antonio Brown with the Pittsburgh Steelers?
The Pittsburgh Steelers drafted Antonio Brown with the 195th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. Surprisingly, he didn’t have the hype coming into the league. However, he slowly transformed into a top talent in the league and was a crucial member of his team.
He played 130 regular-season games for the Steelers. He had 11207 receiving yards and 74 receiving touchdowns for the Steelers. Moreover, he played ten playoff games for Pittsburgh. He had 837 receiving yards along with four touchdowns. He made First-Team All-Pro four times during his stint with the Steelers and made the Pro Bowl six times.
Even though Antonio couldn’t win a Super Bowl with the Steelers, his resume is absolutely stacked. There can always be an argument about him being the best WR to play for the franchise.
