Liz Truss is ahead of Rishi Sunak in the survey

Current Foreign Minister Liz Truss is far ahead of Indian-origin Rishi Sunak, former Finance Minister, in the race to succeed UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Such information has emerged in a recent survey by YouGov.

According to the news of Times of India citing PTI, Rishi Sunak was on top of all in the preliminary selection. But in the final battle, Ugov's survey says otherwise. YouGov, the UK's top Internet-based polling agency, took the opinion of 730 Conservative Party politicians last Wednesday and Thursday. 62 percent of them expressed their support for Lease Truss. On the other hand 38 percent supported Rishi Sunak. That is, as a result of the survey, Truss is ahead by 24 percentage points compared to Sunak. Two days ago, this difference between them was 20 points.

Analyzing the survey data, YuGov said that as the race to become the next prime minister gathers pace, Liz Truss's chances of eventual victory are increasing. Many Conservative Party politicians are yet to make a final decision on their preferred candidate for the post of Prime Minister. So their support at the last minute can play a big role in the eventual victory of either Truss or Sunak.

However, Sunak was ahead of his rival Truss in all five of the primary elections as head of the Conservative Party. 137 MPs voted for Rishi Sunak in Wednesday's election. And Liz Truss got the support of 113 people.

However, YuGov says Truss was in third position in the first four rounds of selection. But he came second in Wednesday's polls. So Truss can show big surprise in last minute selection. Truss is gradually closing the gap to Sunak. May be the next chancellor of the UK government, succeeding Boris Johnson.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced his resignation earlier this month due to various scandals. 10 candidates vied for his post. From there, Sunak and Truss finally survived. One of the two will be elected by a vote of party members. Voting will begin on August 4, which will continue for about a month.
