Protests in Iran cannot be stopped even by arrests and shootings

 


Protests continue in Iran despite security forces' crackdown and repression. Protests took place in several cities of Iran on Thursday night. There have been clashes with security forces in several cities.

Protests in Iran are mainly at night. On Thursday night, protests took place in several cities including Sanandaz, Marivan, Baneh, Ilam, Sakez, Nishapur, Bukan, Kerman. A video of the protests in the city of Ahvaz in the country's Khuzestan province has gone viral. It shows security forces firing at protesters on the streets.

Regarding Thursday's protests, the France-based Kurdistan Human Rights Network said that at least 37 protesters were injured during protests in the cities of Sanandaz, Marivan, Bahen, Ilam, and Saqez. And 19 people have been arrested. A video shows a protester being beaten in Ilam city.

Meanwhile, in a video believed to be in the city of Baneh in Kurdistan province, security forces are seen running with pickup vans to chase protesters. Shots were fired at the protesters from that pickup van. 

Iran shuts down social media after protests Apart from this, foreign journalists are not able to gather news there. Foreign journalists have been banned for spreading false information. As a result, not much information about the protests is available.

A young woman named Masa Amini was arrested by the country's policy police on September 13 for allegedly violating hijab-related policies. Masa died in police custody on September 16. Masa's family claims that Masa was tortured and killed. They also filed a case in this incident. However, the police say that the woman died of 'cardiac failure' despite being in their custody. His death sparked protests in Iran. Friday was the 29th day of the protest.

Human rights organizations say that more than 200 protesters have been killed in the protests so far. Apart from this, thousands of people have been arrested.

Children are losing their lives in protests

Many children have been arrested for joining the ongoing protests in Iran. Children have even been arrested from schools. But where they are kept is still unknown to many parents. Besides, many children participating in the protest were shot dead by the security forces.

According to US-based human rights organization HRANA, at least 26 children lost their lives in this protest. Three of these children are 12 years old. And according to the Children's Rights Protection Society of Iran, at least 28 children were killed. Many of them are from backward provinces like Sistan and Baluchistan.

Amnesty International says there is an all-out campaign targeting children. Human rights organizations termed it as 'unbridled brutal repression'. According to the information provided by them, at least 23 minors were killed in the protest. However, each organization believes that the actual number is much higher.

Criticism of butter

Several Western leaders have expressed solidarity with Iran's ongoing protests. Last Wednesday, French President Emmanuel Macron expressed solidarity with the protest. Appreciating the women and youth who participated in the protest, he said that France stands by the protestors. Apart from this, he also condemned the repression that is being carried out in the protest.

Iran condemned Makhon's statement. In this regard, the spokesman of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Kanani, said in a statement that the French leader's statement amounted to interference. This will encourage 'radicals and lawbreakers'. He termed Makho's statement as 'hypocrisy'.
