Ukraine claims to have killed more than 14,000 Russian soldiers

The Ukrainian military says 14,400 Russian soldiers have been killed in the first three weeks of operations in Ukraine. The claim was made in a Facebook post of the army on Saturday, local time.

According to the BBC, the post on Facebook published an updated account of the casualties of the Russian military. It said Ukraine had destroyed 1,460 Russian armored vehicles, 70 tanks, more than 100 warplanes and helicopters.

The BBC has not been able to verify the Ukrainian military's claim. But Western intelligence sources say about 6,000 Russian soldiers have been killed since the attack began. At the same time, 14 to 21 thousand soldiers of the country were injured.

Earlier, another Ukrainian military post on Facebook said that Russian Lieutenant General Andrei Mordevich had been killed in the shelling. However, the veracity of this claim could not be confirmed, the BBC reported. Ukraine claims that five Russian generals have been killed so far in the war with Mordovichev.

Andrei Mordevichev was the commander of the 8th Combined Armed Forces of the Southern Military District of the Russian military.

Analysts estimate that at least 20 generals have been sent to Ukraine to lead a special Russian military operation under the direction of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
