C told Biden in a video call yesterday that some people in the United States were sending the wrong message to Taiwan's pro-independence forces. It is very dangerous. He said if the Taiwan issue is not addressed properly, it could have a devastating effect on relations between the two countries.

A statement from the White House said, "Biden reiterated his position on the Taiwan issue, saying there was no change in US policy. He also stressed that Washington would oppose any unilateral change in the current situation.

The Foreign Ministry thanked Biden for emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Straits, as well as for his strong support for Taiwan's security. At the same time, Taipei called on China to take concrete steps against the aggression in Ukraine and to condemn Russia.

The country has been rejecting China's claim to sovereignty over Taiwan. They have joined Western sanctions against Russia and sent humanitarian aid to refugees in Ukraine.
